REGENERATIVE FARMING  beyond "Sustainability"

ABOUT US AND OUR FARMING PRACTICES

At Regeneration CSA, we are committed to sustainable and ecological farming practices.  Our systems are based in Permaculture techniques that take a lot into consideration in growing vegetables for our members.  We grow using methods that are not just chemical free, but that are practical explorations into what truly sustainable  and “regenerative” farming might be in our Bioregion. We are working to minimize and eliminate fossil fuel inputs, and we strive to go beyond that to paying back our "carbon debt" by helping to sequester carbon into the soil. We do this by growing primarily without ever tilling the soil, using raised mulch beds,  and we avoid the use of nonrenewables like black plastic mulch and other common fossil-fuel based (yet USDA “organic”) inputs.

This season we are experimenting with other methods to build soil fertility and sequester carbon to help address global warming. Bio-char or “Terra Preta” is one very exciting new (yet ancient!) method. To learn more about bio-char visit: Terra Preta

Growing sustainability as well as food!

We see sharing and educational work as just as important a part of our mission as growing food, and we offer free and low cost regular Permaculture workshops on topics like composting, vegetable oil as a fuel for cars, no-till weed free gardening systems and much more.  See the calendar for  a schedule of events.
